The Yoga Place gives back to the community of the island by offering free yoga classes to Indonesian locals of Gili Trawangan. Yoga means Union, with all and everybody. The Yoga Place wants to make this accessible to the people of Gili Trawangan. Visitors to the island can help by joining our mediation sessions on the beautiful Gili Trawangan hill. Meditation makes us more aware of the ways we are connected to everything and everyone. Our meditations are free; any donations made are only used to support activities in the Gili Trawangan primary school.
The Yoga Place has yoga for everybody. We offer yoga classes and courses in different styles throughout each day in our yoga center on the hillside in Gili Trawangan.
All our classes are suitable for all levels and taught with a friendly and personal approach. You are challenged where possible, but we are always conscious of your safety. Each class gives you the complete yoga-experience and at the same time is filled with many detailed instructions on your practice.
There are many ways of practicing yoga and each yoga teacher is unique. At The Yoga Place we keep our classes practical and down to earth. So that they are accessible and you can take what you learn out of our hall and into your daily life. We are also convinced that though yoga is a very sincere practice, it can still be a lot of fun.
Our yoga teachers focus on your well being. They are all experienced and qualified by international Yoga Alliance standards and can adjust each class to your level. Our teachers have been trained in India and the west, and combine traditional yoga with modern insights.
At The Yoga Place we draw inspiration from a wide variety of yoga traditions, like ashtanga, vinyasa flow, Iyengar, hatha, sivananda and yin. Our meditation courses and some yoga classes also include teachings from Buddhism and Taoism.
Our teachers are here out of love for sharing yoga’s many benefits for body and mind. They will help you as much as they can in every aspect of your practice and yoga development.
